The AI-EMPOWERED project has generated insights into multiple dimensions of employment for disabled people. Our findings on the Access to Work scheme were published as part of the evidence base submitted to the UK Parliament Public Accounts Select Committee on Access to Work.

As part of Birmingham Tech Week and the ESRC Festival of Social Science the AI-EMPOWERED project presented research findings from a systematic review assessing the workplace implications of AI for disabled people.

The event was headlined by a panel of experts comprising Dr Neve Abgeller (University of Birmingham), Chris Erwood (The Edward Gostling Foundation and Erwood Tax), Helen Hunt (Health Innovation West Midlands), Emma Partlow (CEO of the National Centre for Accessible Transport) and Jake Wall (Tech UK), who debated the opportunities, challenges and risks presented by AI for the working lives of disabled people.
